Mathias Vidal tenor
Mathias Vidal studied Musicology at the University of Nice and is a graduate of the Paris Conservatory where he studied singing with Christiane Patard.
He was awarded the title of “Révélation Classique” from the ADAMI agency in 2007.
His repertoire includes bel-canto roles such as Ernesto in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale (Lisbon), Elvino in Bellini’s La Sonnambula (Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow), Almaviva in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville (Saint-Céré), and Ramiro in La Cenerentola (Gut-Immling).
Praised for his passionate and informed rendering of the baroque repertoire, he has been invited to take part in the productions of Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie at the Glyndebourne Festival, Purcell’s The King Arthur (Montpellier, Versailles, and Besançon) and The Indian Queen (Schwetzingen), Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea (Teatro Real in Madrid, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Lille, and Dijon), La Didone by Cavalli (Caen, Luxembourg and Théâtre des Champs Élysées in Paris), Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo and Cavalli’s La Calisto (Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich), Le Temple de la Gloire by Rameau (Lièges and Versailles), and to perform the title roles in Benda’s Pygmalion (Houston, Dallas, and New York), and Rameau’s Platée (Japan) and Dardanus (Versailles).
