Triumph of the Clarinet

Those who have attempted to play the chalumeau or baroque clarinet know how difficult it is to produce a beautiful tone. Those of us who have not had the chance cannot but trust their word. All present to the concert of the German ensemble Crescendo Barock in Břevnov Monastery, however, could appreciate what such a beautiful tone sounds like. The evening was dominated over by Christian Leitherer, the leader of the ensemble and a brilliant player on the aforementioned instruments. In sonatas and suites by G. F. Haendel, G. Ph. Telemann, Michel Corette and Joseph Bodin de Boismortier he was accompanied by Barbora Leitherer on viola da gamba and Barbara Willi on harpsichord and organ.
