Music, song, and dance, as well as shadows, marionettes, and masques – such are the diverse means through which the French-Czecho-Slovak Compagnie Scapinove played out the adventures of the ingenious gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha. In a wink, the empty space of the stage filled up with figures come to life thanks to three nimble comedians and broad variety of stylized gestures, costumes, hairpieces, and stuffed bellies. Tight coordination between musicians and actors was essential to this truly ingenious version of one of the most famous narratives of all times.
