One of the mainstays of the 2006 festival programme rested in the production of the famous French dance ensemble La Compagnie L’Eventail. The two items on the programme, Les Éléments by Jean-Fery Rebel and Don Juan ou le Festin de Pierre by Christoph Willibald Gluck, are important landmarks in the history of ballet and dance music. Both pieces brought about a revolution in the 18th century ballet, due to their original music and their choreography, nowadays unfortunately unpreserved. The inspiring themes of both works, influenced by the baroque aesthetics, present the modern producer and choreographer with endless possibilities.
