Annotation
“The Violino Virtuoso” concert will transport listeners to a time when the violin became the centrepiece of the musical world and when the Italian virtuoso school defined the boundaries of technical perfection while drawing inspiration from the cultural heritage of other nations, above all the exotic allure of the Iberian Peninsula. The programme will feature fiery Spanish rhythms and vibrant colours, compositions by the “violin wizard” Francesco Maria Veracini, Corelli’s iconic La Follia based on a wild Iberian dance, and Tartini’s legendary Devil’s Trill, a sonata shrouded in the myth of the composer’s dream in which the devil himself taught him to play the violin…
In the majestic setting of the Church of St. Simon and St. Jude, and accompanied by the ensemble OBNI (Objeto Barroco No Identificado), the Spanish violinist Miriam Hontana will make her instrument sing, captivating the audience with her sensitive, distinctive, and emotionally charged performance and her ability to let the music “speak” – transforming technical perfection into a genuine musical dialogue. This concert will be her debut in the Czech Republic.

OBNI (Objeto Barroco No Identificado)
“A highly recommended abduction. Few ensembles emerge with such force, brilliance and determination as this one. Behind its peculiar name, it harbours a torrential passion for the works of Bach and Vivaldi. Since its debut at the Festival International de Arte Sacro, the ensemble has garnered outstanding acclaim, promising a future firmly established on the leading early music circuits.” (Carlos García Reche, Melómano)
OBNI (Objeto Barroco No Identificado) was founded at the initiative of Miriam Hontana to give free rein to her passion for the extraordinary violin repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. OBNI made its debut in 2021 and has since been constantly active in Spain and Europe. In its short career, OBNI has already performed at festivals such as the Festival Internacional de Arte Sacro in Madrid, Musika-Música in Bilbao, and the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik. In 2023, OBNI recorded its first album, featuring concertos for solo violin by Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi as well as other concertos by both composers and a performance of the Ciaccona for solo violin. The album has been met with high praise from both audiences and critics.
The members of OBNI have performed in more than 30 countries, in many of the world’s finest concert halls, and collaborate with some of Europe’s most renowned early music ensembles. They are united by their shared passion for great repertoire, which is why their programmes revolve around composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Joseph Haydn.
Miriam Hontana
Baroque violin, art. director
“Hontana possesses that special light granted to only a few, which, overcoming the enormous technical difficulty of her instrument, allows her to make it entirely her own, as if it were an extension of her body, capable of expressing something so unique as to be indescribable for anyone who has not witnessed one of her concerts.” (Simón Andueza, Ritmo)
Miriam Hontana has established herself as one of the most versatile and outstanding violinists of her generation. Her career as a soloist, concertmaster, chamber musician, and orchestral player has led her to perform at prestigious festivals and concert halls in countries such as Spain, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Argentina, and China. Notable venues include the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Brucknerhaus in Linz, and the Konzerthaus in Vienna. With a career that continues to gain momentum, she blends versatility and artistic sensitivity, establishing herself as a fresh and distinctive voice in today’s musical landscape.
She studied violin and viola with renowned teachers such as Sergei Fatkulin, Ana María Valderrama, and Luis del Valle, and later specialised in Baroque violin and viola and historically informed performance of early music under the guidance of Olivier Fourés and Hiro Kurosaki. Miriam Hontana combines a solid classical technique with deep sensitivity to historically informed interpretation.
In 2021, she founded the OBNI ensemble (Objeto Barroco No Identificado) and in 2023, she recorded with its musicians her first album featuring violin concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach and Antonio Vivaldi, including the Ciaccona for solo violin. Her solo programmes also include her interpretation of Vivaldi’s Seasons in such emblematic venues as the symphony halls of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao, the Auditorio de Tenerife, and the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas.
Miriam Hontana collaborates with numerous early music ensembles, including La Ritirata, Tiento Nuovo, Conductus Ensemble, the Compañía Nacional de Danza, Accademia del Piacere, Ensemble Jupiter, and Il Pomo d’Oro. She also maintains a presence beyond the Baroque, with concerts focusing on Johannes Brahms, Sergei Prokofiev, and Ástor Piazzola.
