Annotation

The concert of the Portuguese ensemble Os Músicos do Tejo in the beautiful hall of Troja Chateau will be a truly extraordinary experience. Marcos Magalhães, the ensemble’s artistic director, has prepared a unique programme for this hall during which the audience will experience the exotic atmosphere of the Portuguese kingdom in the 18th and early 19th centuries.

In arias from Portuguese Baroque operas, which bear strong Italian influences, a rising star of world opera, the soprano Ana Vieira Leite, will perform in Prague for the first time ever. She and the versatile musician Marco Oliveira, one of Lisbon’s most prominent fado performers, will present popular songs – melancholic modinhas that reflect their Brazilian origins as well as emotionally intense fado. The improvisational art of the ensemble’s members will be given space in sensual dances called lundum. The Os Músicos do Tejo ensemble tirelessly discovers treasures in the Portuguese archives and the Prague audience will surely be delighted with them!
