Alessandro Tampieri

dirigent

A violinist, violist, and, exceptionally, also a guitarist and lutenist, he began his musical studies in his home town of Ravenna, joining the Baroque orchestra Accademia Bizantina at a very young age. He has performed in concerts as a soloist, chamber musician and a member of symphony and opera orchestras (Filarmonica della Scala), and also engaged in contemporary music collaborations with Luciano Berio and Azio Corghi for recordings and first performances.

His appreciation of the musical language of the 17th and 18th centuries and marked aptitude for improvisation led him to devote himself mainly to the repertoire of this period as a violinist. He has worked and still works with e.g. Il Giardino Armonico, Divino Sospiro, Academia Montis Regalis, L’Arpeggiata, Artaserse, Imaginarium and Il Suonar Parlante. Since 2011, he has been a concert master of Accademia Bizantina.

He regularly performs in the most prestigious European and American early music festivals. He has made recordings for Teldec, Decca Records, Naïve, Harmonia Mundi, Hyperion, Virgin Records and for major European and North American radio stations. His recent recording of Vivaldi’s concertos for viola d’amore and strings, with Accademia Bizantina and Ottavio Dantone (Naïve), received a very warm welcome from both specialist critics and the public.

He teaches at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica Gioachino Rossini in Pesaro. He plays a violin made in 2014 by Marco Minnozzi.

Akademie Versailles is an international educational project aimed at the interpretation of French Baroque music and its period performance practice. The project is organized by Collegium Marianum in collaboration with the French Institute in Prague and the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles (CMBV). It is part of a long-term partnership between the Summer Festivities of Early Music in Prague and the CMBV, whose task it is to preserve and promote French Baroque music.
